Did you know Emmaus has a Compassion sponsor child?
Anderson lives with his mother. His duties at home include caring for animals, making beds and doing odd jobs. There are 2 children in the family. His mother occasionally works as a labourer. Due to low income his family struggles to survive.
Singing, playing with marbles and walking are Anderson’s favourite activities. In primary school he is making steady progress and he also regularly attends Bible class and Vacation Bible School.
Anderson especially needs our love and care because he is receiving regular medical treatment. Because of our sponsorship, however, he is better able to lead a well-adjusted life.
Please pray for him.
Anderson lives in the coastal community of Durán, home to approximately 255,800 residents. Typical houses are constructed of cement and have zinc roofs. The most commonly spoken language is Spanish.
The regional diet consists of fish, plantains, beans, chicken and rice. Common health problems in this area include respiratory illnesses, skin diseases, parasites and malnutrition. Most adults work as labourers, in domestic service or as bricklayers and earn the equivalent of $AU150 per month. This community has paved streets but needs vocational training and environmental education.
Our sponsorship allows the staff of Nueva Vida (New Life) Student Centre to provide Anderson with Bible teaching, dental check-ups, health care, special celebrations and academic support. The centre staff will also provide parenting education and counselling for parents.
